Are you ready to rock and roll with the coolest canine in town? With 85lbs of good-boy energy, Stone is ready to rock your world and steal your heart with his stoic charm and playful antics!

Stone may be wary of strangers at first, which comes with his role as your live-in neighborhood watch volunteer (he takes his duty very seriously), but once he gets to know you, he’s the most rock-solid friend you could ask for. He is always on the lookout for his loved ones.

One of Stone’s favorite pastimes is adventuring the geological wonders of the great outdoors! Just don’t forget his gentle leader, it helps keep his curious nature in check while exploring the terrain like a Boy Scout. But, it’s okay with him if you want to skip the hike. Stone is happy to compromise, as he is a bit of a fetch fanatic. There are few things he loves more than chasing after a ball with boulder-busting enthusiasm, but beware – he’s got a knack for turning those balls into slobbery masterpieces! You might want a few spares on hand just in case, unless you’re content to rock the soggy look. But hey, it’s all part of the fun!

It’s not all about high-energy activities for Stone. He’s also smittin’ with snuggle time! Unwinding to curl up with his favorite humans for some quality belly rubs and smoochy showers is arguably the best way to bring the day’s events to a close. However, when it comes to furry friends, he is stone-cold selective. While he enjoys playing with some other dogs (he’s mostly a lady’s man), a slow kindling friendship with more of a laid-back personality is preferable. And as for cats, well, let’s just say they’re about as welcome as a pebble in his shoe.

Your epic adventure together is just a Stone’s throw away! Submit your adoption application at the MAS website. Be sure to mention Stone’s name to meet this diamond in the ruff!

Stella is a around 2 or 3 years old and tips the scales at 13 pounds. She loves to play with her toys, enjoy a sniffy walk with her human, and a good belly rub. But her favorite thing … to snuggle under the covers and sleep next to her person all night. She made us promise to put that in here. Stella is doing great with her potty training and crate training! If you’re looking for a best friend that is the perfect balance of snuggles and independence, Stella is your girl! She does have a Grade 3 heart murmur, but nothing that requires medication or veterinary intervention at this time. 🖤 Stella is current on vaccines, microchipped, and will be spayed before she heads on to her forever home! Her adoption fee is $275 and you can apply to adopt her online.

Second Chance Cats of West Michigan

Second Chance Cats is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to help cats at municipal shelters who are at risk for euthanasia or were deemed unadoptable because of behavioral or medical issues. The group also works with other private rescues that are overcrowded and helps rehome cats that have been assessed as friendly when going through the trap-neuter-return process.  Here is their pet of the week.

Other cats, Children

Amber is a sweet 8-month old, petite tortoise shell cat who made her way to Second Chance Cat Rescue after being rescued by a community caregiver last fall. Tragically, she, her siblings and their mother were thrown out of a speeding car. Sadly, mother cat did not survive, but the caregiver rescued the three kittens (all of whom had various injuries.

After much medical treatment, nursing care and human interaction, Amber has come a long way and is now a very healthy, happy kitty. She loves to be pet but is not yet ready to be picked up by her human companions. Each and every day, she is becoming more trusting. Amber loves to play with her feather wand toy, catnip logs, climbing her cat trees and watching YouTube bird videos. She also enjoys watching deer, birds and other wildlife that would pass by her window daily. If you are looking for a sweet, playful, loving, kitty then Amber is the cat for you. She also loves to sit at the top of her cat tree taking a nap in the sun or sitting next to you in her nest.

We believe that kittens are happiest when they have a feline friend so Amber will need to be adopted with another kitten here or go to a home with an existing, playful cat.

Amber has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $120. Amber is approximately 9 months old.

Apply to adopt Amber here.

If you are interested in any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.
