Furry Friday (On a Sunday)

Due to a website glitch Furry Friday was not posted a couple of days ago.  So here they are!

The following animals are available for adoption.  If you find an animal you’d like to adopt please contact the organization directly.  Lowell’s First Look does not assist with the adoption process.  And if you’re looking to add to your family and don’t see an animal below, each organization has additional cats, dogs, or farm animals looking for new homes.   Pet profiles and photos are provided by each organization.

For additional information about each organization visit their websites or read our intro article to Furry Friday!

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

My name is Jazzie!  Pretty cool name if I do say so myself.  My D.O.B. is 5/01/06.  I came from a past home that did not give me alot of time. When I first got to Mackenzie’s, I was really scared and had a couple issues.  I am feeling more comfortable and decided no one here is going to hurt me, so I am starting to melt some hearts.  I am the kind of dog that loves to be near you and will just curl right into you for attention. I have what they call a “submissive grin” which makes some folks think I am going to growl, but I am just smiling.  I need a home with experienced owners that can give me some time, and teach me new things.  I would love to go on walks and just be part of the family.    I’m also not the fondest of other dogs, although I can certainly walk by them. Oh yeah, I do not like cats!!! Please come and see me soon.

My name is Star, because I am a shining “Star”. At least the kind folks at Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary think so. I am such a devoted girl to the folks I bond with. I think you are the next best thing to dog bones. I spend as much time in the adoption coordinators office, just playing with my toys, listening to her conversations, and snuggling. I love to sit with my front legs crossed. I am such a lady. I would make a great companion to a quiet household, and a devoted best friend. I would now be considered a senior dog, but no one told me that. I still can run and play with the best of them.

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Kitten fun!!!  Come laugh, pet, love, and enjoy our kittens!  Carol’s Ferals has a colorful array.  All need good loving homes.

I am Quentin, named after a French Saint.  To be honest, I am not the saintly type, but my orange coloring makes me one of the handsomest cats at CF.  I love playing with the red dot and getting attention.  I can be a bit of a bully with other cats, so may be best to be adopted to a home with a dog and not another cat.

My name is Horse.  I was left behind to fend for myself when my family moved.  I used to curl up and sleep with their 8-year-old child every night.  I miss that.  When I hear children’s voices, my ears perk up.  I would really love to find a new young friend to crawl into bed with.  Story time anyone?

Shiva, here — I am the official office cat.  I prowl the outer rooms and hallways searching for mice or dropped food.  Since I don’t get along with other cats, I am not allowed in the cat rooms.  I enjoy people and laps , although I seem to prefer men, women are okay too.  You’ll probably find me snoozing on the chair as you come into the facility.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

Oh, the world is so big when you are a tiny kitten! My name is Token and I have two siblings named Tanner and Twinkie. We are just 8 weeks old and a little unsure of the world right now.. We’re trying very hard to be brave but it’s going to take some time and we’re kind of scared and shy so we’ll need a quieter home without kids where we can learn how good the world can be! Are you someone who is patient and understands that kitties need to take things at their own pace? If so, we’d love to meet you. We’d like to be adopted and, if you have room for two, would REALLY love bringing one of our brothers or sisters along for the adventure!
