Introducing Lowell’s First Look

Today marks the launch of Lowell’s First Look, the latest way to get news in the City of Lowell.

This past summer, we started Lowell Leads the Way as a column to celebrate the good that’s happening in our community. The response has been tremendous and now seems to be the right time to evolve into something more.

Nearly four in ten adults often get their news online, according to the Pew Research Center, and nearly 60 percent of those who read the news prefer to do so on the internet. And yet there is no local online news source dedicated solely to Lowell residents.

That changes today.

Bringing You the News You Want

While writing for Lowell Leads the Way, we learned residents are interested in the more personal side of town. They want to know more about the people behind the scenes and the businesses that make our city tick.

We’ll keep bringing you that content on Lowell’s First Look. We’ll profile businesses, answer your pressing questions – such as, why are there so many gas stations in a 2 mile stretch? – and keep you up-to-date on the latest happenings in our schools, churches and on the sports field.

But we also want this to be a place where you can post your good news and have it in a format where it can be easily shared with family and friends online. Had a baby? Getting married? Want to thank the neighbor who cleared your walk? Let us help you spread the word by submitting your good news to our announcement section here, free of charge during our introductory period.

You can also use our contact us form to let us know about community events or suggest story ideas. We welcome your press releases and sales announcements as well. We can’t promise everything will make it online, but we’ll do our best.

What to Expect from Lowell’s First Look

We won’t be the same as a daily newspaper and while we’re getting our sea legs, our publication schedule might be a bit erratic. However, our goal is to have 2-3 good stories a week for you to read about the happenings around Lowell and the people and organizations fueling them.

If we’ve done our job, you should leave our site feeling like you know a little more about the people, places and organizations that are all a part of making Lowell where it’s at to live, work and play.

Welcome to Lowell’s First Look!
