Jake Davenport Announces Bid for Lowell City Council

We received the following press release from the Committee to Elect Jake Davenport.

(Lowell, Michigan, March 2nd,2023)– The Committee to elect Jake Davenport released the following Statement regarding Jake Davenport’s decision to run for Lowell City Council:

“Today, I am excited to announce that I am jumping into the 2023 City Council race. Coming off a few unsuccessful attempts at this position, I pondered if jumping back into the ring was something I wanted to pursue again. After due consideration, thought and prayer, I believe that I still have many things that I want to achieve, and still have lots of knowledge that can better our city and our community. I believe that the Lowell community will perceive me as someone who will never give up on our community, despite the challenges we face.

Thanks to the leadership and efforts of many in our community, we have made great strides in terms of growth, opportunity, and making Lowell, more than the next place to be, and it instead making it the place to be. Now is not the time to take our foot off the gas. Now is the time to take all our progress and push it to the next level. I intend to lead on this issue.

We must always support our first responders, we must never raise taxes, and we must remember that we work for the people; the people do not work for us. We must protect our natural areas and fulfill our promise to this community to keep the 990 Washington parcel a natural area for all in our community to enjoy.

I believe the city should do more to make sure that everyone has a seat at the table. Ordinance changes should always have a public comment period so that those effected can have a chance to voice their concerns. We as a city need to a better job listening.

Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to meeting our residents, business owners, and community members who call Lowell home. We are a community of dreamers, believers, and hard workers whose only limit is the sky and the stars above. We are Lowell, and we do great things. I ask for your support in the City Council election”
