Lowell Cancellations and Closures Due to Coronavirus

The government has banned all gatherings of 50 or more people, and the following local events and activities have been cancelled as a result of the spread of the coronavirus. This list was last updated on May 30, 2020 @9:45am.

We will do our best to update this list as we see information or it is sent to us.  However, before heading out to an event or location, check for current information on cancellations and closings.  If you have something you would like added to this list, please send an email to [email protected]

Local Business and Organization Information

LowellArts is canceling all live events. The gallery is also closed.

Lowell’s Open Table has suspended Thursday meals.  Check back after April 9 for further details.

2020 Lowell Expo originally scheduled for March 28 has cancelled

ACA Training Center is closed until further notice but expects its 2020 summer programs to continue as scheduled.

Ada Lowell 5, Lowell Fit Body Boot Camp and Snap Fitness have been closed by order of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The order affects virtually all fitness and entertainment businesses in the state and remains in effect until 11:59pm on Monday, April 13.

Adventures by Lori Travel Expo  scheduled for March 19 will be rescheduled to a date yet to be determined.

Flat River Outreach Ministries has provided information about how they are changing their food pantry. Treasures Thrift Shop is closed at this time, but donations of food, money and items are still being accepted.

Fry Daddy’s is temporarily closed.

Gilda’s Club has suspended all onsite and offsite programs. Support services are still available via phone or email.

Gilda’s LaughFest has canceled the final three days of the festival, scheduled for March 13-15. Grand Rapids events featuring Jeff Foxworthy, Maria Bamford and Rockin’ Home Grown will be rescheduled.

Kent District Library has canceled all programs, outreach visits and bookmobile visits until April 13. This includes activities at the Englehardt/Lowell and Alto branches. All branches in the district have been closed, and all materials currently checked out will have a due date of May 15.

Larkins is temporarily closed.

Lowell Area Historical Museum has suspended its public open hours for the time being.

Lowell City Hall is temporarily closed.

Lowell Women’s Club has extended the deadline for applications to become a 2020-2021 student member. The new deadline is April 5, and applications or application requests can be mailed to the club at P.O. 366, Lowell MI 49331.

Jultara Salon is currently closed.

Village West Floral will be permanently closing. Gift certificates may be used through June.

School Information

Lowell Area Schools will be providing breakfast and lunch to students within in the district during this time of closure.

Lowell Area Schools and St. Patrick School, as well as all public and private schools in Michigan, are closed through April 6 by order of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Spring break is currently expected to remain April 6-12 which means school will resume April 13.

Church Information

St. Mary Church and St. Patrick Church, as well as Catholic churches in the Diocese of Grand Rapids, resumed public services on May 29. Buildings are limited to 25% capacity, and parishioners should contact the church to RSVP for a particular Mass.

Vergennes Church will cancel all in person gatherings through the middle of April.

First Baptist has canceled in person services but will provide a live stream.

Lowell United Methodist has canceled in person services but will provide a live stream.

Impact weekend services canceled but will provide a live stream.

Lowell First United Congregational Church of Christ has suspended all activities until further notice. Open Table, a weekly community meal held at the church each week, is being halted until at least April 9.
