Lowell Area Historical Museum Offers Monthly Crafts for Preschool Children

The second Monday of each month October through March the Lowell Area Historical Museum offers a Museum for Tots program.  Children 0-5 and a caregiver are invited to explore the museum and make some crafts to take home.

A Monthly Theme
Each month the museum chooses a theme and bases crafts around it.  January’s topic was woodland animals.  Outdoor critters were part of life in Lowell’s history.  Animals were hunted for food and fur.  They also shared living space with human inhabitants of the community.

Kids were able to make owls in a tree out using paint with hand prints and brushes.  At another station construction paper pieces were used to make a fox face.  And a third location offered coloring of four woodland animals which could be pasted on forest scene.

If you missed out on this week’s event mark your calendar for February 13 and March 13.

Exploring Lowell’s History
Lowell was founded in 1831.  History and culture of decades past is kept alive in the museum located on West Main Street.  Members of the community have donated items on display in the museum.   Many have also been recorded as part of an oral history of Lowell.

While currently contributing to what will become Lowell’s history take some time to see how previous generations made the community what it is today.  The Lowell Area Historical Museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1-4.  Visit their Facebook page to stay up to date with upcoming events.
