Lowell Gilda’s Club –Noogieland Kids Shower!

We received this information from Gilda’s Club of Lowell.  Help fill the kids’ room with toys and activities!

As our namesake Gilda’s Radner would say, “It’s always something!”.

Recently the Senior Neighbors/Lowell Gilda’s Club experienced an “always something moment”.  As will sometimes occur with vintage homes, the plaster ceiling gave way and left fine dust on the toys and books used in the Noogieland room normally occupied by kids ages birth to 6 years old.  This has left most if not all the toys/books unusable.  These items were well loved and used over the 8 years since Gilda’s Club first started hosting our cancer and grief support program in Lowell.  So, we figured it may be time for a Noogieland Kids Shower!

We are asking the community to assist us in replacing or purchasing new toys and books that will be used by the children that attend Gilda’s Club cancer or grief programs.  The items are suggestions for what is most needed:

  • Gift cards such as: Meijer, Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Target, Hobby Lobby, Michaels

Noogieland is a wonderful space where kids who are on a cancer or grief journey, or have a loved one who is navigating the emotional impact of such a journey.  The word “Noogies” got their fame in part from a Saturday Night Live sketch that included Gilda Radner, playing Lisa, and Bill Murray, playing Todd.  Todd would often make jokes and give Lisa “noogies” by rubbing her on the top of the head with his knuckles.
