Lowell Rotary Club Adds Scholarship, Applications Open Now

We received the following press release from the Lowell Rotary Club.

The Lowell Rotary Club is once again offering scholarships to local high school seniors.

New this year is an additional one-year technical/trade school scholarship. That brings the total number of scholarships available through the Lowell Rotary Club to 14.  Of those, 12 are renewable 2- or 4-year scholarships. Another is a one-time scholarship for a technical or trade type school.

Applicants must be graduating seniors and live in the boundaries of the Lowell Area School District or attend Lowell High School. Students who are home schooled or in a school of choice program are encouraged to apply.

Scholarships are centered on the Rotary motto: Service Above Self.

Along with an application, students are asked to submit an essay describing their volunteer activities, who was served, and how the experiences have impacted their life. They should include all school and non-school service related activities like student government, sports, choir, clubs, church, work, etc.

The Rotary Club of Lowell Community Foundation has awarded more than 140 scholarships totaling over $385,000 to Lowell area students since being established in 2000.

Applications are available at LHS Guidance Office, Lowell & Alto Public Libraries and on the Lowell Rotary Club website in the Download Files section. Applications must be submitted to the LHS Guidance Office or postmarked by the third Friday in March.
