Lowell’s Got Talent Takes Place This Saturday

This Saturday, a dozen performers will face off during a Lowell’s Got Talent competition to be held at Recreation Park, also known as the Lowell fairgrounds. Tickets to the event, which runs from 6-8pm, are $5 per person and can be purchased at the gate.

The competition is being hosted by Ashley Dunn, owner of Creative Party Bug, with support from a number of other local businesses. “Why watch [performers] on TV when you can support them locally?” Dunn asks.

12 Performers Vie for $500 Prize

As with other recent activities put on in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lowell’s Got Talent will be a drive-in event.

“Outdoor events are all that people are comfortable doing still,” Dunn says. Being outside or in vehicles allows people to be physically distant from each other while also meeting government requirements for public gatherings.

The performers will be live on a stage, but the audience doesn’t need to worry about being close to the front to hear. People will be able to tune in on their radio to hear the sound at a volume that is comfortable for them.

More than 20 people auditioned and the following performers, who are predominantly singers, made the cut:

• Dave Ophoff and Megan Meadows
• Ava Boruta
• Fayth Miller
• Evelyn Deaton
• Keley Taylor
• Grace Barnett
• Jeremiah Vincent
• John Bassin
• Sara Seeley
• Lindsey Garcia
• McKenna Brody
• Ryne Clark

Each person or duo will perform once, and then a six-person panel of judges will cut the field in half. The remaining performers will sing a second time, and a winner will be chosen by the judges to receive a $500 prize. All the performers and judges are Lowell-area residents.

Family-Friendly Event Supported by Business Community

Dunn promises the evening will be family-friendly with no swearing and no politics. A number of businesses have also stepped up to help underwrite the event. Major sponsors include:

“It’s going be a beautiful night in Lowell,” Dunn says, “[and] it’s a great way to bring people into the community.” She hopes area residents will head to the fairgrounds on Saturday night, September 26, to see our local talent for themselves.
