New Credit Union Opening in Lowell

Construction of the new Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) has been hard to miss along M-21.  The wait for their opening day is nearing.  On November 6 their doors will open to the public for the first time.  With many already established members in the Lowell area it was a logical choice to open a branch in the community.

Member Driven
LMCU takes pride in caring for its members.  They are the focus when it comes to how decisions are made, making sure account holders will benefit.  Like other credit unions LMCU is a non-profit, owned by its members.   “We are accountable directly to our members, and they directly share in our success – benefitting from lower and fewer fees, better savings and checking interest rates, lower cost mortgages and a host of other advantages that simply don’t exist at traditional banks.” says Carissa Neilsen, the Branch Manager at the new location.  She also mentioned among all credit unions nationally, LMCU is ranked first in asset growth and member return, which is 99.53%.

With numerous members in and around the Lowell community, requests for a branch in Lowell were answered.  LMCU is a full service credit union.  Existing members and new accounts can take advantage of services offered to individuals and businesses.  The 3% Max Checking Account boasts a 3% interest rate on up to $15,000 on a personal account.  Mortgage, auto, and personal loans are also available.  In addition to financial services, home, auto, and life insurance can be purchased through LMCU.

Managing Lowell’s Branch
Neilsen is not a resident of the Lowell community but she and her husband see themselves settling here.  A frequent visitor to the antique shops and being part of Impact Church, Neilsen is already familiar with what Lowell has to offer.

When asked of her impression of Lowell and the decision to open a branch here, Neilsen replies, “What really drew my personal attention and my desire to work in Lowell is the vibrant sense of community. You can tell families and businesses take pride in contributing to local events and the schools.”  She is looking forward to being part of another business contributing to the community.

See You in November
Starting November 6 current members will have a new location to do business and access their accounts.  And those looking to see what a credit union has to offer will be met with knowledgeable, smiling faces looking to help with financial needs.  Neilsen indicates the type of service members will receive saying, “LMCU takes hospitality to the next level from friendly, knowledgeable tellers who genuinely care for your financial needs, to offering stellar value at every turn.”
