We received the following press release from the Lowell Police Department.
The Lowell Police Department is happy to announce the graduation of Detective Gordy Lauren from the Shield Institute, Command Level 1 course.
The Command Level 1 course is designed for the front line police supervisor. The course is geared toward those officers who are, or who will potentially be promoted to a junior supervisory position.
The course of study included: Leadership skills, Officer Wellness, Decision Making, Conflict Management, Performance Evaluations, Coaching & Mentoring, Implicit Bias/Diversity, Risk Management, among other topics.
Command Level 1 is an 80-hour course spread out over 5 months; 60-hours classroom and 20 hours online/computer based work. The course started in the fall of 2019 and completed this May. The course was delayed due to Covid.
Detective Lauren was required to complete a project paper/presentation. Det. Lauren chose the topic of Officer Mental Wellness. Det. Lauren received 100 out of 100 on his project with a nice review from his instructors.
We congratulate Det. Lauren on his hard work and his dedication to our profession, our department, and most importantly, to our city.
