LOWELL, MI, July 9, 2019 – LowellArts announces the ISEA 28th Annual Juried Experimental Art Exhibition hosted by the International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA). The upcoming exhibition is juried by Joseph Becherer, director of the Snite Museum of Art. Awards for the exhibition exceed $10,000, and will be presented at a reception held on September 19, 5-8pm at LowellArts. Exhibition dates are September 7 to October 26, 2019 at the LowellArts Gallery, 223 W Main St, Lowell, MI 49331. Gallery hours are: Tues-Fri 10am-6pm and Sat 10am-5pm.
The exhibition features approximately 100 pieces of art in all-media, both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional, by artists from around the world 18 years old or older. Monetary awards for the exhibition exceed $10,000 and include the Best of Show, or the “Gracie” Award, in honor co-founder Gracie Hegeman. Material awards are presented for works considered “Cutting Edge.”
Jurying the exhibition is Joseph Becherer, the recently appointed director of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame and formerly the founding director and curator of the sculpture program at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
ISEA also holds its annual symposium in Grand Rapids, September 15 through September 21, with workshops at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and demonstrations at LowellArts. A complete schedule of events and venue information can be found on the ISEA website.
