As the Michigan Legislature completes their work on the state budget this week for the 2017-18 fiscal year, Senator Hildenbrand announced he was able to secure a $1 million grant from the state for the Lowell Showboat.
“The Showboat is the icon of our community”, said Hildenbrand. “When I heard the boat was no longer safe for public use, I went to work to find funding to assist in its rebuilding.”
Senator Hildenbrand chairs the Senate budget committee and plays a key role in putting together the state’s budget each year. The funding will be available after October 1, 2017.
