SWEET SEASONS CELEBRATES ONE YEAR ON MAIN STREET IN LOWELL

Patty and Kimball Dlouhy, along with their daughter Annelyse, are inviting Lowell area residents to celebrate the first birthday of Sweet Seasons Bakery & Café this coming weekend. The local business celebrates its first anniversary this month, and according to the family-business owner Patty Dlouhy, “Business is booming. We’ve just finished hiring several part-time employees to help with the counter and baking this summer.”

The family-owned business will celebrate their anniversary on Saturday, June 23rd from 7:00 am until 2:30 pm with Sweet Birthday Specials and gift card drawings. Everyone who visits the bakery & café on Saturday will be entered into a gift card drawing. In addition, friends who like, comment, and share about the Sweet Seasons birthday celebration on Facebook will also be eligible for the drawing.

A 2014 graduate of the Secchia Culinary Institute’s Baking and Pastry Arts program, Patty had been working for a couple of months as a pastry chef at Vela, the coffee shop previously located at 307 Main Street, when the manager decided that he wasn’t going to renew the lease. “I thought I was going to go out and look for another job,” she said, but her husband had a different idea. “We did pray about it quite a bit, and Kimball felt strongly that I should open my own bakery, that it was meant for me.”

A long-time resident of Lowell, Patty said, “I’ve always sort of wanted to have a bakery in downtown Lowell. Something that had that hometown feel. After all, Lowell is our home, our kids went to Lowell area schools, and this is where we want to be.” Annelyse Dlouhy, Patty and Kimball’s daughter, currently works as manager of the family business while pursuing her master’s degree. And while their late son Alex isn’t present at the bakery, he absolutely loved coffee and even in high school was saving for an espresso machine. “Alex was the kind of person who would talk to the new kid or sit with someone at lunch, so they didn’t have to sit alone. And that’s the atmosphere we want for our customers, a comfortable, inclusive, happy place, where everyone feels welcomed. Alex would have loved this place, and if he were here, he would be my main barista. So, he’s part of this too.”

In addition to delicious baked goodies, coffees, and teas, Sweet Seasons Bakery & Café serves freshly made soups, salads, quiches, and paninis on homemade sourdough bread. They brew Sozo Coffee, use Mooville milk & cream in their lattes and cheesecakes – one of Patty’s specialties – and locally source honey, maple syrup, fruits, and vegetables in season whenever possible. The bakery & café is open from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, 7:00 to 2:30 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. In addition, Sweet Seasons does catering, and the facility is available to rent for special events.
