We received the following press release from the office of State Representative Gina Johnsen.
State Rep. Gina Johnsen (R-Portland) took the oath of office Wednesday, Jan. 8, marking the beginning of her second term in the Michigan House of Representatives as the 103rd legislative session officially got underway.
A steadfast advocate for conservative values and limited government, Johnsen reaffirmed her commitment to serving the hardworking families in communities throughout the 78th District, which includes portions of Kent, Ionia, Barry, and Eaton counties.
Rep. Johnsen expressed her gratitude for the continued trust placed in her by area residents.
“It is a privilege to represent our district and fight for the principles that make Michigan strong —faith, family, and freedom,” Johnsen said. “As we begin this new term, I remain committed to advancing policies that prioritize individual liberty, reduce government overreach, and protect the values that bind our communities together.”
The representative encourages residents to stay engaged and share their thoughts on issues facing the state. Constituents can contact her Lansing office by calling (517) 373-1796 or emailing [email protected].
“As your state representative, my job is to serve you,” Johnsen said. “Your input and involvement are critical as we work to preserve our values and secure a brighter future for Michigan families.”
Her job, in her words, is to serve we the constituents, but also to advocate conservative values and “fight for” faith, family and freedom. I’m a constituent who thinks Johnsen’s place as a lawmaker is not to fight for faith or family, but to let me decide for myself whether to do those things. Or not. The last thing I need from Johnsen is to think I need her help or influence in those areas. I do not.
