Road Alert: S. Hudson Closed to Traffic from Sept. 13-16

If you travel down S. Hudson Street in Lowell for your commute, you’ll need to take a detour Tuesday through Friday, Sept. 13-16, 2022.

US Track Works will be completing a project at the railroad tracks just south of the Grand River, and the road is being closed to all traffic.

The Kent County Road Commission has set up a detour that will divert traffic traveling north from Alden Nash/Segwun, down Grand River Drive and then into town via Division Street. From there, vehicles can turn left on Main Street to return to Hudson. Cars traveling south will be diverted along Main Street and south on Jackson Street. Then, they can turn right on Grand River Dr. to reach Segwun/Alden Nash.

While there will be a road closed sign on Hudson Street at the Main Street intersection, a map provided by the Kent County Road Commission shows that vehicles will still be able to access Bowes Road and the side streets off S. Hudson.

In other road construction news, the Michigan Department of Transportation will be doing work on M-21 from Cumberland Ave. to Valley Vista in town.

This work is scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept 13-14, from 9am-8pm. The road will not be closed completely, but it will be reduced to one lane during this time. Those traveling during the construction period should plan for potential delays.
