Scenes from Lowell: 2024 Riverwalk Festival Edition

It was ducks galore in downtown Lowell earlier this month as the Riverwalk Festival took place over three days from July 11-13. The annual event celebrates live on and along the Flat River with activities for the whole family. Here’s a look back at this year’s festival.

The festival kicked off on Thursday with a free concert by Prior Noon. There was another concert on Friday — this time featuring Josh Rose and The Founding Fathers — and the Riverwalk Marketplace, food trucks and vendors opened that night as well.

For many people, though, Saturday is the main event. The fun starts with the Run the Riverwalk 5k in the morning and doesn’t end until the fireworks are shot off over Stoney Lakeside Park in the evening. During the day, the riverwalk hostsĀ  a variety of events, including a Kidz Zone (shown above).

The Riverwalk Festival featured a kayak/canoe/SUP race early in the day and then everyone was invited to take a kayak out on the river through the morning and early afternoon.

When hunger struck, there were food trucks nearby and ready to serve up a quick meal or snack. Of course, Lowell also has numerous restaurants within walking distance of the Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk Car Show is also a popular part of the event, with people from all over bringing their classic cars, muscle cars and more. New this year was a Dynamometer that allowed participants to measure the horsepower and torque of their vehicle.

There was entertainment on the main stage all day, allowing area organizations and residents to share their talents.

It was a hot day, and we appreciate all the volunteers, Chamber staff and public safety workers who sweated it out to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Special recognition goes to the Lowell Police Department officers who patrolled the Riverwalk all day wearing heavy uniforms and equipment while everyone else was able to don their shorts and t-shirts.

If you missed it this year, mark your calendar for the second Saturday in July next year. Hope to see you on the Riverwalk!
