Scenes from Lowell: Arrow Readers on the Move Edition

Arrow Readers on the Move is in full swing, encouraging Lowell Area Schools elementary-aged students to read throughout the summer. Each week, through the end of July, students can go to either Cherry Creek Elementary School or Murray Lake Elementary School to read books, check out books from the school library, take Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes, and claim prizes. AR quizzes can also be taken at home. Students are invited to visit Cherry Creek on Tuesdays and Murray Lake on Wednesdays, each day from 9 AM – 12 PM.

Funding for Arrow Readers on the Move comes from the Lowell Education Foundation with the support of the Lowell Community Fund. Camp Readalot started in 1997 and in 2007 Arrow Readers took over as the summer reading program for students. This year 360 students signed up this summer and over 1,000 AR points have been earned.

Depending on the grade a student has completed, a certain number of AR points is needed to earn a prize. There’s no limit on the number of prizes students can obtain. Below are just some of the happy readers this summer claiming their prizes. Check out the Arrow Readers on the Move Facebook page for more information, including videos of books being read by various teachers and staff. Students can take the quiz for these books and earn AR points.
