Scenes From Lowell: Harvest Celebration Edition

It was a rather warm and grey weekend in October for Lowell’s annual Harvest Celebration. Fortunately, the rain stayed away and crowds of festival-goers walked along the Riverwalk and downtown Main Street to enjoy everything the festival had to offer.

The annual celebration takes place on the second Saturday in October and is administered by the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. The festival also hosted The Harvest Hustle 5k Run/Walk and live entertainment, and a pumpkin decorating station was provided by Lowell Light & Power as the conclusion of their Public Power week. There were even puppies up for adoption by the Humane Society of West Michigan.

The day began at the Wittenbach Wege Center where they, along with Lowell High School’s FFA, hosted a pancake breakfast and apple tasting. The grounds were lush and the air foggy, and the pancakes fluffy and delicious.

Several vendors were set up along Main Street in front of downtown businesses.

Dozens of art and crafts booths were lined up along the Riverwalk, with beautiful displays of a variety of offerings.

Beautiful wood crafts and carvings.
A lovely display of scented candles.
Adorable, plush knittings and decor.

And not to be missed were a variety of tasty offerings, from pastries to cotton candy…

Around Baking Company was also offering a variety of items from their menu.

This year local restaurants competed for the champion spot for best chili at the annual chili cook-off. This year’s winner, with back-to-back wins, was Backwater Cafe. Other participants included Main Street BBQ, who came in second, Keiser’s Kitchen, Larkin’s Restuarant, Sneaker’s, Miss P’s Catering, Flat River Grill, and Big Boiler Brewing.

Backwater Cafe reclaimed its title as champions.

It was a truly wonderful time at Lowell’s annual Harvest Celebration.
