Scenes from Lowell: Harvest Celebration Edition

Downtown Lowell was bustling with action this past Saturday during the Harvest Celebration.  Different activities took place at various locations.  We were out enjoying the weather and festivities.  Unfortunately we weren’t able to stop by the Lowell Fire Department Open House, but below are scenes from other things happening during Harvest Celebration.

The Harvest Hustle started at 8:30 in the morning.  It was crisp out but the sun was shining.

Views along the Flat River were awesome with fall colors starting to show and the still water offering great reflections.

Meanwhile, at the Wittenbach Wege Center a pancake breakfast and apple tasting were going on.

Participants were able to taste quite a few varieties of apples and figure out which were among their favorites.

Also at Wittenbach, a bake sale for the bees raised money for bees and other pollinators.

There was a lot to take in at Recreation Park, including scarecrow making.  All of the needed items were supplied.  For a small fee, a scarecrow could be made and taken home.

Musical entertainment could be heard throughout the day.  We brought you some of the Lowell High School Fusion Rock Orchestra live.  Cheater B’s Band was another group which performed.

Numerous vendors offered items to wear, use to decorate, eat, and more.

N. Broadway was home to the annual Chili Cook Off.  This year’s competition winners were Evert Bek, Mark Todd and Alan Rumbaugh, representing the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce.

Also along N. Broadway, Lowell Light & Power staff and board members were busy grilling for those who stopped by.  They were also sharing information about Lowell’s own electric utility.

It was a great day for this year’s Harvest Celebration.  What activities did you participate in this year?
