Scenes from Lowell: Love Week Edition 2018

Last week, Love Week 2018 took place within the Lowell community.   Last year we published an article with a little history behind the projects and how it got started in addition to having a Scenes from Lowell: Love Week Edition.  Projects are completed during one week each year, but for Bob Rogers it’s more like love year.  With 2018 completed, he’s already working on lining up projects for next year.

Rogers works with businesses and organizations in the community to line up projects.  He works with those interested in being project leaders to organize and coordinate.  He makes sure final plans are in place leading up to Love Week and makes sure each project runs smoothly throughout the week.

This year 606 volunteers spent 1,849 hours on 27 projects.  Volunteers are largely from Impact Church, although this year, three trail projects were taken on by First Baptist Church.  Gardens were tended, buildings painted, windows washed, stalls mucked, decks stained, city parks and trails cleaned up, and much more.

If you saw people out at businesses, organizations, and at school buildings wearing red Love Week shirts, you saw some of the love being spread throughout the community.  The following photos, with the exception of those taken at Ball’s Softee Creme and the Lowell Farm & Wildlife Center are courtesy of Bob Rogers and used with permission.
