Visitors to the New & You exhibit at LowellArts might see some familiar names next to the artwork.
“It’s a new version of our biennial member exhibition,” says Janet Teunis, project director at LowellArts. That means all the art on display at the gallery right now has been created by members of the non-profit, which includes a number of Lowell residents.
All members were invited to submit a piece of work they had created within the past two years. “We wanted to encourage artists to maybe try something new,” Teunis says.
The result is an eclectic mix of art ranging from a photograph entitled Shades of Summer by Lori Ingraham to a quilt featuring a map of Lowell by Denice Barker. Teunis says one of her favorite pieces in the exhibit is a mosaic pig by Sam Coon. Entitled Leftovers and made out of stained glass scraps, “It’s a lot of fun,” she says.
All the artwork is for sale so visitors can purchase any item that catches their eye. There is no charge to visit the gallery located at 223 W. Main Street, and people are encouraged to stop by at any time during normal gallery hours. For more information, visit the LowellArts website.
