Pink Arrow XI is in the books. While Lowell lost 36-0, the community of Lowell came out as a winner. The stadium was packed with fans, supporters, cancer survivors, and current cancer patients. The walk and announcement of people cheerleaders and football players were representing was inspiring and emotional.

The game began and although Lowell wasn’t able to put any points on the board, they fought, like any Lowell High School team does, throughout the game. Pink Arrow Pride will spend the next couple of months determining the exact amount of money raised this year through donations, shirt sales, and other means throughout the year. Later this year they will announce the total amount raised and how it will be distributed throughout the community.

Prior to the Survivor Walk, the Pink Arrows took to the field to practice. Pink Arrow bags lined the field. Each person being honored or represented during the game by a player got to take one of the bags.

Cancer survivors and those who are still having their personal battle walked a lap around the stadium as those in the stands cheered them on. It is because of those walking that Pink Arrow Pride exists. Thursday evening was for them.

The Lowell players were the last to enter the stadium. Their uniforms pink; the names on the back of their jerseys representing someone close to them affected by cancer.

Announcements of who cheerleaders and football players were representing, many of the participants were noticeably emotional. Tears of joy for survivors and sorrow for those lost being honored were shed.
