Scenes from Lowell: Senior Neighbors Veterans Luncheon

Thanksgiving wasn’t the only special day last month. Veterans Day also falls in November, and Lowell Seniors Neighbors marked the occasion with a special luncheon for veterans and their families.

Families were invited to the Lowell Senior Center on Hudson Street for a meal and recognition. It was a full house with all the seats filled in the main dining area and an overflow room.

Veterans Day is one of several days observed throughout the year to honor military members both past and present. These include the following:

  • Armed Forces Day — Observed on the third Saturday of May to honor all those currently serving in the military.
  • Memorial Day — Observed on the last Monday of May to honor those who died while serving in the military.
  • Veterans Day — Observed on November 11 to honor all those who have previously served in the military.

Plus, there are days designated throughout the year to remember veterans of specific conflicts, prisoners of war and others who have been affected by military service, such as Gold Star Mother’s Day.

Thank you to all who have served!
