Scenes from Lowell: St. Patrick’s Day Edition

Erin go Bragh!

It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, and everyone seems to have a little Irish in them on the greenest day of the year.

The party started early for some local students who had special St. Patrick’s Day activities at school.

At the United Methodist Preschool, students made crafts, played games and had special snacks to celebrate the day.

“Leprechauns” also snuck into the preschool and caused all sorts of havoc. Oh my!

Meanwhile, the preschool and developmental kindergarten students at St. Patrick School tried their hands at making traps to capture those sneaky leprechauns.

Students were rewarded with a visit from a real-life leprechaun (aka Cassy Dye) who passed out chocolate coins in all the classes.

Then, as is tradition, the Conklin Ceili Band stopped by St. Patrick School on Friday afternoon to play Irish tunes while the student body filled the dance floor.

To follow up on Friday’s festivities, a contingent of St. Patrick School students and parents headed to downtown Grand Rapids to participate in the annual St. Patrick Day parade there. They were led by St. Patrick himself….an honor Scott Czarnopys says is the best part of being the school’s principal.

Get your green on, Lowell! Slainte!
