Scenes from Lowell: The Dino Edition

Did you hear about the dinosaur who showed up at Englehardt Library?  Yesterday from 2-5, Branch Manager Heather Wood-Gramza donned a dino suit after the challenge of the branch meeting its summer reading goals was accomplished.  Wood-Gramza threw down the challenge in the weeks as the program concluded, saying she’d dress up like a dinosaur should the building meet the Summer Reading Program goals.

The challenge was accepted and met.  Yesterday was the day a dino visited the library.  But prior to this, Wood-Gramza roared into the weekly Lowell Rotary meeting where we’re told she was a big hit.  And she behaved, not eating any of the members even though some intel indicated some of the adults there were acting like children.

A snack was available in the library lobby to celebrate the event.

Dinosaur themed stamps were available for kids who wanted to help celebrate.

Gramza also revealed how she overcame her height challenge in order to bit into the suit.

It wouldn’t be a library event without a story being read!  And of course it was dinosaur related.  Stubby arms and those dino claws made it hard to turn the page, so an assistant came to help!

Heather enjoyed being able to have fun and be silly as a way to celebrate reading.  She hopes to make this sort of challenge a yearly event.  What do you think she should do next summer if the Englehardt reading goal, which was 600 finishers, is met?
