Scenes from Lowell: The Back to School Edition

Lowell Area School students, teachers, and staff filled school buildings this week kicking off the 2017-18 school year.  Here’s a look at some of what happened around Lowell this week.  Do you have any back to school traditions?

Monday started off with a solar eclipse.  Many took time away from what they were doing around 2:20 in the afternoon to look to the sky.

Monday evening elementary schools welcomed families during Meet the Teacher night.  Pink Arrow shirts, PTO tables, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and Food Services were also part of the evening.

Tuesday morning some students waited for their first bus ride to school of the year.  It was raining so the wipers on the bus went swish, swish, swish.

Later in the week sunny skies made for an enjoyable ride home on the bus.  Photo courtesy of Jilisa Ghareeb.

The chess table was installed this week outside the library.  Thanks to Friends of Englehardt Library and the Middle School Chess Club for making this happen.  Bring your own pieces or check a set out from the library.

The three-day school week ended with a first ever Youth Football pep rally at Burch Field.  Youth players, cheerleaders, coaches and parents enjoyed games, prizes, cheers, team spirit.
