Scenes from Lowell: Builders Edition

It seems like a lot of people have been building things in Lowell lately. Most of those things are houses, but not all of them. Here’s a look at some of the building going on around town.

To start, the Lowell Robotics team built a cool machine and took it to East Kentwood High School this weekend for regional competition. This is the Red Arrow cheering section in the stands.

And here’s what the competition looked like. Go read Robot Games for more details on how the event is run and scored. We also have more photos on the Lowell’s First Look Facebook page.

On to the houses….Several developments are underway around town. We shared photos from Harvest Meadows on Alden Nash Ave. SE in a previous Scenes from Lowell. Nearby on Foreman St., Stony Bluff is taking shape, and the first house on the drive looks about done.

On the south side of town — over by the Lowell Charter Township offices — another Alden Nash development is going in. This one for Alden Ridge Executive Homes.

Keep going south on Alden Nash, and you’ll run into this. No one’s building a house here…

Instead, it’s part of the work being done to build a drive off Alden Nash to the Timpson sand mining operation.

We’re not sure what’s going on here in the lot in front of Curtis Cleaners. But when we find out, you’ll be the first to know.

Once all these houses are built, they’ll need some furniture to put inside. In that case, they may head to Mi Hometown Furnishings on Main Street. You’ve probably noticed the pink flags out front. They are there because the store is donating five percent of its sales through the end of April to Pink Arrow.

Hello blue sky. Please don’t ever leave. Love, Lowell.
