FROM Spring Volunteer Fair Set for Saturday

Flat River Outreach Ministries (FROM) will hold their first Spring Volunteer Fair on Saturday, April 29 from 10am-11am.  Members of the community are invited to stop by this open house style event to learn more about volunteer opportunities with the organization.

Opportunities for Everyone

In 2016 FROM had more than 300 people provide more than 39,000 hours of their time volunteering.  It’s through volunteer work such programs as the Food Pantry, Treasures Thrift Shop, and others are available to those in the Lowell community.  In their first ever Spring Volunteer Fair FROM invites those interested in learning how they can help to learn about areas of need.  Individuals as well as groups are invited to volunteer, although the latter should inquire about specific opportunities based on frequency of offering time.  Those 14-16 can volunteer with an adult and if you’re over 16 no adult supervision is required.

Executive Director Dawn Broene, Volunteer Coordinator Diane Kleczynski, and current volunteers will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.  “[We are] looking for customer service oriented sales people. Also, a commitment on Tuesdays to volunteer with our Lunch Buddy program.” indicates Kleczynski who has been in the Volunteer Coordinator position for three and a half years but has spent over a decade in other roles with FROM, including a position on the board.

Each month the first Wednesday at 6pm and the third Thursday at 1pm a mandatory volunteer orientation takes place for newcomers.  The hour long session will familiarize volunteers with their roles and provide any information needed to be successful.  May 13 at 10am a first ever Saturday orientation will take place.

Throughout the year training sessions are also provided on topics such as safety, customer service, and the mission of FROM.  If you’re interested in learning more about how you can join the team of FROM volunteers stop by their Spring Volunteer Fair at 11535 Fulton Street East between 10am-11am this Saturday, April 29.
