Still Time to Register to Vote or Pick Up an Absentee Ballot for March Primary Election

On Tuesday, March 10 voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in the Michigan Primary.  Those who are not yet registered to vote may still do so up until the closing of polls on March 10.  However, after February 24, registrations must be done in person with the clerk’s office of your municipality.  Prior to this date, applications can be mailed in for processing.

Voters in Michigan are now able to vote via absentee ballot without providing a reason.  This means that anyone registered to vote can do so from home and mail in his or her ballot or drop it off at the clerk’s office.  There is also an option to be placed on a permanent absentee voter list. Those on this list will automatically be mailed a ballot prior to each election after signing up.  To receive an absent voter ballot an application can be filled out and mailed in or dropped off at the clerk’s office.  All three local municipalities indicate voting by absentee ballot is a great way to easily cast votes at the voter’s leisure and avoid potential lines at precincts on election day.

Saturday, March 7 City Hall, Lowell Charter Township, and Vergennes Township will all be open from 8am – 4pm to help with voter registration and accept absentee ballots.

The following is special information from Vergennes Township with regard to registering for an absentee ballot.

You can be added to the list in the following ways:

  1.     Email a scanned copy of your request to [email protected] –include your printed name, birth date and signature.
  2.     Drop off your request in the Vergennes Township Drop Box located near the flag pole.
  3.     Deliver it to the Clerk’s Office during open hours.
  4.     Mail your request to the Clerk’s Office.
