Thank You from the Dean Family

We received the following letter written by the Dean Family after the recent fundraiser for Doak Dean.

Dearest Lowell Community, Friends and Family,

We are not even sure where to begin with this THANK YOU!! We are overwhelmed and feel completely blessed by the love and support we were shown by all of you on Friday night, March 24th.

We are so grateful for the many people who care about supporting Doak and the continued success of Pink Arrow Pride so great to see and be able to talk with so many of you even if the ugly and the scary topic of Cancer is what brought us together. We are so very thankful for our Lowell family and all the love shown to us and especially to Doak!

Our gratitude and love for all of you is immeasurable. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the prayers, phone calls, countless messages, care packages for Doak, as well as all of the many nausea remedies that were shared with us. Lowell will always be considered our home no matter where we physically are and we could never thank you enough!!!

Doak has just finished his second to last treatment. He has one more on 4/4 to complete his three rounds. His tumor markers taken before this last round were all in the normal range which means the chemo is working.

These last 5 months have been some of the toughest times we have faced as a family. To watch your child suffer through chemotherapy every day for 5 hours at a time and all of the side effects that come with it crushes your heart. But… It did give us a chance to spend a lot of time with our college aged son together that we hadn’t had in several years. We spent many hours talking about fears, hopes, dreams and future plans. That is a time we will never regret.

Doak has wonderful high school friends and siblings also who have all taken turns coming to be with him during his treatments and to make sure he was never alone while we were working. Everyone has worked very hard to make him feel secure, loved and supported during this difficult time.

We will go back to Mayo Clinic on 4/11 for more scans and blood work. Hopefully, after that point, Doak will just be under surveillance for the next several years. Until then, we continue to seek joy in every day and be thankful for all that we have been blessed with and you, the Lowell Community is one of those things!! Thank you again and we hope to be able to continue to Pay It Forward with continuing to support Pink Arrow Pride.
