The Lowell Riddler: Riddle #13 Solved!

The Lowell Riddler is hiding medallions in the City of Lowell and offering area residents the chance to win a prize of local gift cards. Look for a new clue or riddle each Saturday!

The 13th riddle from The Lowell Riddler was a doozy. It took a record three clues to solve and even then, the winners weren’t sure they understood all the clues. Here’s what the told the Riddler:

Double six on the dice confirmed the RR tracks and the “so I hear” led us to the stream. The icon of old was the hardest. We thought Strand Theatre, but it never quite fit.

The medallion was eventually located along Lee Creek. Here’s what else The Lowell Riddler sent us when announcing the winner and the answers behind the riddle:

Clue #1
An icon of old holds a clue. (Robert E. Lee Creek)
Betting you know what to do. (Betten)
Cooking with gas, (Baker/Gas for vehicles)
Manners are passed. (Lee Creek passes through Schneider Manor)
All that is yours is ours, too. (ours too = RR)

Clue #2
Two white lines run perpendicular. (Painted on road by RR tracks)
Opposite lines quite vehicular. (Parallel lines of the RR track)
Served piping hot, (Pipe)
Not the right spot, (Not the right pipe, the center pipe)
Buy a drink if you’re not too particular. (Bar)

Clue #3
Double six on the dice sometimes stops here. (Boxcars)
Hop, skip and jump and you’re so near. (From RR tracks to pipes)
Find the thread on the lead. (Hanging from pipe with fishing line)
All three are grass fed. (All three pipes covered with overgrown grass)
It’s just hanging around, so I hear. (Hanging from middle pipe over creek)
