Treasures for Troops Collection Ends This Week

The clock is ticking for local residents who want to support the 7th annual Treasures for Troops collection. Items can be donated through Friday, November 6, and will be shipped out to recipients over the coming weekend.

Sponsored by the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and WION Radio (100.3), with support from the Lowell High School radio station WRWW (92.3), Treasures for Troops gathers items to send to deployed military personnel. Blue Star Mothers MI-188 of Ionia, Kent and Montcalm Counties also helps package and mail the donated goods.

Throughout October, collection bins have been available at the following Lowell businesses:

  • Bernard’s Ace Hardware
  • Creative Party Bug
  • Fans in the Stands
  • Flat River Gallery & Framing
  • North Star Antiques
  • Red Barn Consignments and Antiques
  • Station Salon
  • Tap House Bo
  • Lowell High School – WRWW Radio
  • YCD Electronics

Now, it’s almost time to wrap up the drive. WION Radio will be broadcasting from the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce tomorrow, November 4, 2020, and collecting items from 12pm-6pm. Final donations are due November 6.

In addition to snack, entertainment and personal hygiene items, cash donations are being accepted to cover the cost of shipping.
“I personally have challenged people with a cash donation,” says Liz Baker, executive director of the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. She has donated $50 toward postage and is asking others to match that amount.

Residents are encouraged to include a personal message or thank you note to service members with their donation of cash or items.
