Tuesday Concert at Red Barn Market to Benefit Goggins Family

Chris Goggins plays keyboard with the band Upstage Crew which will be performing at Red Barn Market tomorrow night.  While blues music will fill the air the band will also be playing for one of their own.  Goggins lost his wife when her courageous fight against cancer came to an end.  All tips collected on Tuesday will be donated to the family.  Come out and enjoy a concert and help a family within the community.

Hope Throughout
Shannon Goggins passed away this June less than a month before her 40th birthday.  Goggins was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2010.  After being in remission she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in spring 2016 and began treatment.  She and her husband Chris have lived in Lowell for many years.  Both graduated from Lowell High School and now have two children attending Lowell schools.

Heather Hoffman, a friend of the family, says of Shannon during her cheerleading in high school, “I always knew who Shannon was because she was ‘THAT GIRL WITH THE CRAZY-BEAUTIFUL HAIR!’  Shannon had the most amazing, long, curly hair. If you attended a football game in the early 90’s, you couldn’t help but notice Shannon.”  Hoffman and Goggins became friends as the two worked together starting a Girl Scout Troop at Murray Lake Elementary when their daughters were in kindergarten.  Goggins left behind a son Ryan who will start 7th grade next month and a daughter Halle who will begin 5th grade.

Throughout her diagnosis and treatment Shannon remained positive.  She always had hope and always believed she would beat cancer once again.

Tuesday Evening Concert
Red Barn Market has weekly evening concerts on Tuesdays throughout the summer.  This week’s concert will be special.  Barb Kropf-Roth, owner of Red Barn, hopes concert attendance will be record-breaking.  Any tips received on Tuesday will be donated to the Goggins family.  She wants to be able to help a local family and member of the band who will be performing.

Members of Upstage Crew “draws upon years of collective performance experience” according to their website.  Come out and listen to their blues music and enjoy some ice cream or another treat from the market.  Chris Goggins started playing keyboard with the group within the past year.  One of the last family memories Shannon had was taking the kids for the first time to see their dad perform in the band at the Deltaplex.  Just days prior to passing away she was able to enjoy this special family time.

Caring for Our Neighbors
In the fall shortly after school begins for the past 10 years the community is reminded of those we may or may not know dealing with cancer in some way with the Pink Arrow football game.  These stories take place throughout the year.  When loved ones pass away families and friends are left behind and continue to be moved by cancer.

Tomorrow evening from 7:30pm-9pm stop by Red Barn Market to listen to Upstage Crew.  While you’re there you can help financially support the Goggins family.  Their loss is still fresh in their minds.  The community also has an opportunity to give emotional support.

Shannon was a devoted wife who absolutely adored her husband, an amazing, creative and loving mother who was so proud of her kids, a dedicated daughter and a loyal friend.   She absolutely loved the family that her and Chris created.” concludes Hoffman.  With Shannon’s passing she will be missed by numerous people.  Her husband Chris and their two kids Ryan and Halle should be celebrated

If you’re unable to attend the concert but would still like to donate to the family you can visit their GoFundMe page.

  1. Our family loves the Red Barn Market. We come out year round. On Friday I stopped with our French granddaughter Ella to celebrate her Vacation Bible Study concert.
Ella discovered on the napkin holder that the Red Barn is now also a cafe. What a treat. Thank you Barb.
Then Barb told me about the benefit for the Goggins family on Tuesday. Please come out into the country to enjoy the music of the Upstage Crew and to help out.
