Paul is no stranger to Lowell riddling. Since the beginning of the Lowell Riddler in 2022, Paul and his family have solved several clues. They are a Lowell riddling guru family!
From Paul:
Hello Riddler! First let me thank you again for continuing the clues this year, and for the special Halloween edition! My family discussed each clue and looked for the medallion a lot this summer, but it really seemed we weren’t speaking your language this year.
With how quickly last year’s Halloween edition was solved, I wanted to make sure to be centrally located when the clue was released, so I parked at Shell gas station and kept refreshing the LFL website. When the clue was released, my brother and I associated “marooning” with Robinson Crusoe, which led us to think of Rix Robinson, local fur trader of the 1800s. I searched around the cabin at North Riverfront Park with no success. My brother thought “time” was a central theme in the clue, so I searched near the iron clock near Dr. Reagan’s office, again with no luck. We discussed further and I didn’t think we were coming up with any promising locations to search, so I went home to think about it some more. I ended up Googling “maroon” and noticed “strand” was a synonym. I remembered the Strand was the old name of the movie theater in town and saw “cast” and “tour” were also in the clue, which made me think I was on the right track. There is also a digital speed sign across the street, which would line up with the last line of the clue “you don’t want to go too fast”. I called my parents on the way, and they met me in the parking lot by King Milling. I thought it would be near the speed sign, so we searched on the south side of the street without success, and then we crossed the street and looked on the north side near the theater. I found the medallion wrapped in red electrical tape attached to a fire hydrant. (Photos attached). Not exactly where I had expected to find it, but the clues got us there!
Thank you again for the fun and excitement this year and every year! We all hope to see you again next year!
Thanks,
-Paul
