Fallasburg Historical Society’s Annual Celebration: A Day of Fun and Tradition

The charm and spirit of Fallasburg Village were on full display this past weekend as the Fallasburg Historical Society hosted its annual village celebration.

Throughout the day, an impressive lineup of 12 bands filled the air with music, creating a festive atmosphere that had people dancing and singing along. The classic car show, featuring more than 100 vintage cars, was a crowd favorite, drawing enthusiasts young and old. Adding to the nostalgic atmosphere were the displays of tractors, steam engines, and the mesmerizing skills of blacksmiths and glassblowers, showcasing their crafts.

A highlight of the event was the artisans’ market, where 27 talented crafters showcased their unique creations. From handmade jewelry to intricate woodwork, there was something for everyone. Adventurers enjoyed metal detecting while animal lovers flocked to see the adorable pygmy goats and mini-horses offering rides. The horse-drawn carriage rides were a delightful throwback, and even Santa made a surprise summer appearance in his sleigh.

For the little ones, a variety of games and activities kept them entertained throughout the day. Foodies were in heaven with a wide array of delicious offerings. I personally indulged in a walking taco and a refreshing beverage – a perfect combo on a warm summer day! The beer tent provided a relaxed setting for adults to mingle, and the homemade ice cream was a sweet treat.

But amid all the excitement, the purpose of the celebration was to showcase the rich history of Fallasburg. The museums and the village itself stood as reminders of the importance of preserving our heritage, inviting attendees to take a step back in time and appreciate the past.

Bruce Doll, vice president of the Fallasburg Historical Society, shared these reflections on the day:

“The 2024 Fallasburg Village Celebration was so much fun! While I was busy, I did get a chance to look around and see everyone smiling. People were happy, kids were having a great time without their phones, parents were happy too; they were using their phones to capture those memories. I am looking forward to next year, not sure how we will make it better…but I am sure we will find a way! Thank you to the 51 sponsors and countless volunteers who made this annual event possible; we could not do it without you. See you next year for Celebration 2025 on July 26.”
