If you’ve been intrigued by the idea of a Columbian Butt Lift, you know it’s not something available at many salons. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone offering the service in Michigan. That is, unless you head to Lash Haus, Lowell’s new lash, brow and body studio.
Owned by the same duo that operates Otto + Grand in downtown Grand Rapids, Lash Haus promises to bring new treatments and a new vibe to Lowell’s beauty scene.
Molly Mars and Cat Visokay originally planned to open Lash Haus in the spring, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant months of delay. Once Michigan’s stay-at-home order was lifted and salons were allowed to reopen, Mars and Visokay had to wait for inspectors to clear a backlog of cases before they could get to their building for a visit.
However, the wait is over and as of today, August 6, 2020, Lash Haus is ready to welcome its first customers.
“We’re so excited to actually open the doors,” Visokay says. The studio operates by appointment only right now, and customers can expect to receive high-quality services that may not be readily available elsewhere.
Lowell: “Everyone Wants to be Here”
While Mars lives in Grand Rapids, Visokay is a Lowell resident. The two have been in the beauty industry for more than 10 years and decided to go into business together when a salon where they previously worked closed its doors.
That led to the founding of Otto + Grand about five years ago. The word otto means eight in Italian, and the salon’s name is a nod to its original eight stations plus its location. The downtown business has been popular, but Mars and Visokay have long wanted to add a location to the east as well.
“Lowell is very up and coming in that everyone wants to be here,” Mars explains. Plus, the business owners noticed a significant number of their Grand Rapids clients were driving in from Ada, Lowell and even Saranac.
When the building at 427 E. Main Street became available, Mars and Visokay jumped at the opportunity. The location previously housed a State Farm insurance office and is situated between Ball’s Softee Ice Cream and the Dollar General store. The building has been significantly renovated to accommodate three work stations plus a separate room for microblading and similar procedures.
Lash Haus Services and Specials
Lash Haus offers specialized services not available elsewhere. For instance, as far as the owners know, it is the only studio in Michigan currently offering Colombian Butt Lifts, a treatment that uses suction to provide a boost to clients’ backsides.
“It’s the equivalent of doing 2,500 squats,” Mars says. Each session lasts about one and half hours, and clients are welcome to put on a Bluetooth headset and stream their favorite show during the process. The provider at Lash Haus has been trained in Canada, and after 6-8 sessions, the lift is said to be permanent.
While a Columbian Butt Lift session is normally $100, the studio is offering an introductory special of $75 right now. They also have lash specials including $150 for a full set of lash extensions and a $100 lash membership which gives clients two fills of any kind during the month. The membership has a six month commitment, and specials run through Labor Day.
Microblading is expected to be another popular service at the studio. It is a form of permanent make-up to enhance eyebrows. Other offerings include waxing, sugaring, airbrush makeup and traditional makeup. Lash Haus prides itself on providing a high-quality experience for all its services.
“When you’re the owner, you have the ability to make sure everything is up to your standards,” Visokay says. “We have really high standards.”
Regular hours at Lash Haus will be Mondays through Fridays from 11am-7pm and Saturdays from 10am-5pm. However, services are provided by appointment only and payment is made at the time of booking.
