Press Release: WinterFest 2019 at Wittenbach Wege Center

We received the following press release from the Wittenbach Wege Center about their upcoming Winterfest event.

WITTENBACH WEGE CENTER PARTNERS WITH LOWELL YMCA AND LOWELL COMMUNITY WELLNESS FOR WINTERFEST 2019

LOWELL, MI – Snowshoe, run, walk, or waggle a 5K trail race, go on a hike using a pair of snowshoes, take part in scavenger hunts and trail games, build a nest box or bird feeder, make a winter-themed take-home craft, and see a mushing demonstration by real-life sled dogs!

Those activities and more will take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, February 2 during WinterFest at the WittenbachWege Center (WWC), 11715 Vergennes SE, Lowell. The event also will include hot cocoa ($1/cup) and a popcorn bar. Additional costs include: race fee of $15/person or $30/family, $5 snowshoe rentals, and a suggested donation of $3/person or $10/family for the sled dog demo to help offset the cost.

“This is our second Winter Waggle 5K and partnering with the YMCA makes perfect sense”, said Courtney Cheers, WWC director. WinterFest has been held annually for 17 years and Lowell Community Wellness has supported the event since its inception and recently through their community initiative grant. “We are all looking for ways to expand our offerings, pool our resources and do something better than what we could individually,” Cheers said. “We all want to encourage family friendly, healthy activities that keep us moving in the winter!”
