Scenes from Lowell: Alto 5th Graders Visit Schneider Manor

Last Thursday, 5th grade students from Alto Elementary arrived at Schneider Manor to spread some good cheer, just in time for Christmas. Schneider Manor is an independent living community for people age 62 and older, and the visit from Alto students is an annual — and much anticipated — event.

About 50 residents gathered in the community’s activity room to listen to a student performance, making it the best-attended activity of the year at Schneider Manor.

Students performed several songs for residents, but that was only part of their visit.

Students also had a chance to meet residents to whom they had previously sent letters.

While meeting with residents, students passed out small goodie bags and a handmade card.

There were smiles all around as students and residents had a chance to connect. It was a heart-warming activity that helped bring generations together and is more example of what makes Lowell so special.
