Vehicle Hits Light Post, Rolls Over in Township Office Parking Lot

Drivers traveling on Alden Nash this afternoon may have noticed an unusual sight in the Lowell Charter Township Hall parking lot.

A vehicle apparently lost control and crashed into a street lamp on Alden Nash Ave. immediately in front of the Lowell Charter Township Hall Wednesday afternoon. The red SUV then rolled completely over and landed on its hood.

The incident happened at 4:37 pm. The township office was not open for business when the accident occurred, and there were no other vehicles in the parking lot.

The driver was apparently uninjured, refused medical care, and stayed on the scene as Kent County Sheriff’s deputies investigated. Lowell Area Fire Chief Corwin Velzen was also at the scene directing the clean-up.

According to the KCSO, there were no signs of reckless driving or intoxication. It’s possible there was a mechanical issue. The driver declined to be interviewed. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
