Plants: they’re not just decorations—they’re friends who don’t judge your pajama days.
If you’re ready to bring a little life (literally) into your home, Lowell’s newest downtown treasure, Pretty Little Pricks, has you covered. Located at 102 W. Main Street, this plant shop isn’t just a place to buy greenery; it’s a plant lover’s paradise, brought to you by Dawn Lopez, a Lowell local with a big heart for small-town charm and a whole lot of leafy passion.
For Lopez, Pretty Little Pricks is more than a business—it’s a dream that’s been growing for years.
“I’m from Lowell,” she shares. “I’ve been part of the community for many years. I love small towns, and I knew I wanted to have a business here.”
Her plant journey started humbly, selling greenery at flea markets. But like the plants she cares for, her dream kept growing.
“As my inventory grew, I knew I was going to need a storefront,” Lopez says. After eyeing her current location for a while, the stars aligned, and she signed the lease. Now, the space is filled with plants, fun decor, and Lopez’s infectious enthusiasm.
The shop is packed with plant personality. From monsteras (which Lopez lovingly calls “my flavor” of plant) to unique finds like the variegated jade and Prince of Orange, there’s something for everyone. Cacti lovers will also feel right at home.
Not sure where to start? Just ask—Lopez is eager to help you find your perfect match.
But the shop isn’t just about plants. Lopez has created a botanical wonderland filled with home decor, pillows, signs, jewelry, clothing, and more. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or hunting for the perfect gift, you’re bound to find something one-of-a-kind.
Lopez doesn’t just want to sell plants—she wants to share her love of them with the community.
“We offer plant care tips on Facebook and Instagram, and we’re doing a poll on activities that people want to see,” she says. Among the ideas being tossed around are a paint-a-pot workshop, a propagation exchange, and a build-your-own-terrarium class. “We’ll be able to roll these things out as we settle in,” Lopez shares, clearly excited to get her hands (and yours!) dirty.
For plant newbies, Lopez’s advice is simple but golden: be patient.
“We all grow at different stages, and the same is true for plants. Stick with it, be attentive,” she says. And if you ever feel stuck, just swing by the shop. “I’m a bit introverted, but I’ll talk plants anytime,” she laughs.
Pretty Little Pricks is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and it’s the kind of shop that makes you want to stay a while. The plants are gorgeous, the vibe is cozy, and Lopez’s enthusiasm is downright contagious. Whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or someone looking to brighten up your space, this shop has something for you.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab a friend, stop by, and see what all the fuss is about. You might leave with a monstera, a snazzy new plant pot, or even a newfound love for plants. One thing’s for sure: you’ll leave with a smile.
Support this small business—say hello, pick up a plant (or two), and let your love for greenery grow!
