In 2018 I came to MAS after being surrendered by my family for not having enough time for me. The sanctuary is a wonderful place and all…. but at 5 years old it was a big and pretty stressful transition for me. I have done my best to adjust to my new surroundings, but I miss the quiet home life.

My favorite things in the whole world are snuggling with my people and going for scenic adventures. I am not as young as I once was, but I do like getting out and I have grown to appreciate the little things life has to offer. All my friends at MAS get a good laugh spending time with me; whether it be my awkward and goofy smile or the love of my toys (rolling around playing with them makes me feel young again)!

You might be wondering why I am still at Mackenzie’s and have yet to find my forever family…. Being an older guy, with limited social skills (I should be the only pet in an adult only home), finding the right home for me has been a bit of slim pickin’s. But I will always hold on to the hope that somewhere out there I will be exactly what someone is looking for and will get to experience home life again.

If you are a lonesome homebody looking for a best friend, I think I might be just what you are looking for! To find out, submit your adoption application online!

Mavis is a 3 and a half year old 65 pound mix of snuggles and spunk. She has never met a human she didn’t love and does AMAZING with kids. Mavis loves to go for walks, lay in the sun, and keep watch out her window but her FAVORITE thing is snuggling on the couch or in bed with her humans. This little pumpkin is so smart and would thrive as the center of your universe and as the only large dog in the home, she loves her small dog friends. She would prefer a family where someone is home more often than not and would love to take some classes with her forever family too! Mavis is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccines. Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply online.

Second Chance Cats of West Michigan

Second Chance Cats is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to help cats at municipal shelters who are at risk for euthanasia or were deemed unadoptable because of behavioral or medical issues. The group also works with other private rescues that are overcrowded and helps rehome cats that have been assessed as friendly when going through the trap-neuter-return process.  Here is their pet of the week.

Meet Wuzzy, a vivacious and playful male cat who is ready to bring boundless energy and joy into your home! Wuzzy thrives on interaction and loves to be around people, soaking up all the pets and attention he can get. His lively spirit makes every moment exciting, whether he’s chasing after his favorite toys or exploring new nooks and crannies. Wuzzy likes to play hard, so he needs a home where he can run and have people to play with.

Wuzzy enjoys the company of other cats, but he needs a feline friend who can keep up with his active lifestyle. If you already have a cat, make sure they’re ready for lots of playtime and high-energy antics! However, Wuzzy would also be perfectly happy as the sole star of your household, where he can have all the love and fun to himself.

If you’re looking for a dynamic and affectionate companion who will fill your home with laughter and love, Wuzzy is the perfect match for you. Come meet this bundle of joy and see if he’s the purrfect addition to your family!

Wuzzy has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Wuzzy has an approximate birthdate of November, 2022. His adoption fee is $95.
