Lowell High School Holiday Play Seeks Elementary Aged Students

The Lowell High School Drama Department will present “Who Will Be the Next North Pole Star” on December 16, 17 & 18th. Thursday and Friday shows will be at 7pm and Saturday’s performance will begin at 10:30am. Keeping with tradition, the performance will have one singing and dancing number where elementary-aged students kindergarten through 5th grade are invited on the stage to perform with the high school students.

Seeking Young Performers

The annual holiday production has included younger students giving them the opportunity to be on stage. No previous performing experience is necessary. The only requirement is the student be signed up and attend one of two rehearsals at the high school happening on December 7 and 8 from 6pm-7pm.

Students are invited to participate in one or more of the performances as long as a parent or guardian is in the audience. Students will need to pay $15, which includes a shirt to be worn during the performance and serves as their ticket to the show. Parents can sign their child up at this Sign Up Genius where additional information can be found. The deadline to sign up and be guaranteed a shirt is Sunday, November 21.

Get Into the Holiday Spirit

The Lowell Performing Arts Center posted the following description of the play on their Facebook page:

Searching for the next hit series, Mr. Jack Frost and his unenthused but efficient cameraman stop by the office of Jack’s old friend, Santa Claus.  Jack is looking for his next potential star and plans to give that lucky person, elf, or reindeer their own television show!  Jack is soon bombarded with would-be superstars:  Mrs. Claus colorfully pitches a holiday home decorating show, the wardrobe elves try to find a good fit for their Project Runway-type series, the kitchen elves bake up a great idea for a cooking show, and Santa’s reindeer are ready to take the reins for their own version of Dancing with the Stars.

Alas, nothing sparks Jack’s frosty cold attitude.  Just when it seems like he’s struck out, Jack comes up with an idea sure to warm everyone’s hearts!

General admission tickets cost $5 and will be available at the door for each of the performances.
