Lowell Police Department, Other Agencies Arrest Two Suspects After Long Pursuit

We received the following press release from the Lowell Police Department.

At approximately 5pm, Wednesday, April 10th, the Lowell Police Department was alerted by our Flock Camera system of a stolen vehicle on E Main St, Lowell.

Officers of the Lowell PD found the vehicle west bound near the intersection of E Main and Monroe St. The officer attempted a traffic stop using emergency lights near W Main and Hudson. The vehicle refused to stop for the officer and fled north out of the city to Lincoln Lake Ave.

The pursuit continued north on Lincoln Lake Ave then east into lonia County. The vehicle was pursued into the City of Belding, into Montcalm County, then back into Kent County. The pursuit ended in the City of Rockford at approximately 6pm in their downtown area. Officers captured the suspect driver and passenger after a short foot pursuit.

The Lowell Police Department was assisted in the pursuit by lonia County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Belding Police Department, the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, and Rockford Department of Public Safety. Several attempts were made to “spike” the fleeing stolen vehicle during the pursuit that were unsuccessful.

No injuries were reported by officers or deputies involved. The suspects were not injured. Cruisers belonging to Lowell PD, the City of Belding, and lonia County suffered minor damage as a result of the driver of the stolen vehicle.

The female and male suspects involved were lodged at the Kent County Jail with charges pending. The stolen vehicle was impounded.
