Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

Those involved with Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary take pride in finding the right home for dogs in their care. Here are their pets of the week.

Pleased to meet you – I’m Squeaky! I’m known around Mackenzie’s as a pretty happy-go-lucky kinda guy. It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy – my favorite people and some treats are all I need! I enjoy the occasional game of fetch, but honestly I’d much prefer we lay down and hang out in the grass.

Beyond that, a quiet home would be helpful for me at first – just to help me get my bearings and build some confidence. I can be kind of shy and reserved at first, but once we’re pals, I’ll definitely be the best bud anyone could ask for!

My name is Freddie! I’ve come a long way since first coming to Mackenzie’s – I had a lot to learn! I’m deaf, so the staff and volunteers needed to teach me hand signals so we could communicate. I picked up on the basics pretty quickly, and they started to teach me some more advanced commands, tricks and even some agility!

Being deaf doesn’t slow me down at all though. In addition to working hard on learning hand signals and commands, staff and volunteers at MAS have worked with me on walk training. I’m happy to share that I’ve mastered that, and graduated to running in a few 5K races! I enjoy the running, but I really like meeting new people while I’m out and about. Car rides are a fun treat for me too – but as long as I’m with one of my human pals, I’m a happy guy.

Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky’s Pet Connection works with the Kent County Animal Shelter to rescue cats and kittens.  They also take in dogs older in age and those needing special care. Here are their pets of the week.

This one? Well, he’s what we call a “keeper”! This is Traveler and he’d prefer that his traveling days were over! He’s a gorgeous, orange tabby who would like to unpack his suitcase once and for all! If you are looking for a happy, outgoing guy that would love to join a family….be sure to check out this 3-4 year old gem!

Carol’s Ferals

Carol’s Ferals specializes in trap, neuter, return (TNR), but they come across “friendlies” who are available for adoption. Here are their pets of the week.

Hi, My Name is Rheagal.  I joined my roommates just after Christmas.  I am a shy guy but I do love belly rubs.  I may not approach you for a belly rub but I won’t mind if you come to me to give a some pets.

My Name is Wagner.  I am a friendly boy who loves to give hugs. I am a handsome guy who is full of energy.  I love to play and I get along well with my roommates.

Hello, my name is Dewey.  I’m a sweet and laid back young man.  I get along with my roommates and mind my own business.  How do you like my fur.  I love it!  It does take regular brushing to keep it looking great.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue look to find dogs and sometimes cats in their care forever homes with the help of foster homes.  Here are their pets of the week.

Beautiful Bella is a special pup that holds a very dear place in our rescue’s collective heart. This 2 year old Staffy/Lab mix is uncommonly sweet. She has the most beautiful, soulful, big brown eyes – it’s impossible not to fall in love with her! Bella is a bit shy at first and takes a moment to warm up to new people, but when you’re lucky enough to earn her affection she is the sweetest, most loyal companion you could ever have. Bella deserves a patient home that will give her the understanding, guidance, and love she needs. She would prefer a home with at least one other pup – she really shines around dogs and her awesome, inner goofiness comes out. It’s adorable! Bella is house trained, up to date on her vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and ready to fill her forever home with love, tail wags and kisses. Her adoption fee is $200. Meet Rocky! Rocky is an 8 year old male rat terrier mix, tipping the scales at a whopping 13 lbs. He has rolled with the punches with a rough start on life, and is deserving of a loving home where he can live up his golden years.
Rocky is very laid back and would be a perfect couch potato in his new home. New situations can be scary for him, but he is will be your best friend once he settles in. He is crate trained, good with cats and respectful dogs, and will do absolutely anything for a treat. He hasn’t been around children, but we feel he would do best with older kids as he is easily frightened. Rocky usually would rather cuddle up under a blanket than play and would love a laid back family that’s his same speed.

Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and will be microchipped before going to his forever home. His adoption fee is $200. To adopt Rocky apply at www.rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/
