We received the following press release from the Lowell Police Department.

Lowell, Michigan, March 14, 2023 – The Lowell Police Department today announced the arrest of Heather Wallace of Lowell for the sexual assault of her 3-year-old granddaughter.

Wallace, 43, has been charged with four felonies in this case: second-degree criminal sexual conduct, aggravated child sexually abusive activity, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive materials and using a computer to commit a crime, which carries a 20-year minimum sentence. Wallace was arraigned on the charges today in 63rd District Court.

The charges follow a monthlong investigation by Lowell Police that began with a tip from the Hillsdale Police Department, which was working with the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department on a sexual assault case involving an individual Wallace met on a dating app. Wallace had contacted Hillsdale Police about this individual, reporting he asked her to take photos of her granddaughter and sexually assault her. She told Hillsdale Police she did not comply with the request.

Through its own investigation, Lowell Police determined Wallace sexually assaulted her granddaughter during video chats with the individual, who lives in Coldwater. The assaults took place in Wallace’s home on Hunt Street in November 2022 when she was caring for her granddaughter.

The Coldwater resident also was arrested and charged.
