Lowell United Methodist Church Announces Community Support Month Schedule

We received the following press release from the Lowell United Methodist Church.

Lowell United Methodist Church has partnered with other West Michigan area churches to declare February “Community Support Month”. Each week in February we will recognize a different group of workers in our community. The community will be encouraged to show their appreciation for those workers with acts of kindness and thanks for them.

The schedule will be as follows:

Week 1- February 5th: Healthcare Workers

Week 2- February 12th: First Responders (police, fire, EMS, etc.)

Week 3- February 19th: Educators (and support staff including bus drivers)

Week 4- February 26th: Service Workers (servers, cashiers, mechanics, etc.)

With the success of the project in 2022, we are expanding outside of the local community. To help with this, we have official proclamations from Lowell Mayor Mike DeVore, Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared the month of February as Community Support Month. Our goal is to show appreciation for those working in our communities and hopes to create a culture of love and support for those individuals. This program is a very easy way for everyone in our community to come together and recognize people who often work behind the scenes to make a difference in our communities.

We encourage the community to get involved by doing and sharing their own acts during the month of February. There is a GoFundMe account that has been started for those interested in helping with financing the project. All funds will be sent out in our communities to recognize workers locally. Donations can be made here.
