PFCU Credit Union Celebrates 75 Years of Service

We received the following press release from PFCU.

Portland, MI – February 11, 2022 – PFCU has kicked off a year-long celebration of its seventy-fifth year of operations. Initiated by the employees of the Holley Carburetor plant in Portland, Michigan in 1947, PFCU’s humble beginning started when its employees pooled their resources and applied as a credit union. When the plant closed a few years later operations moved to the basement of PFCU’s then manager, Arden McCrumb.

In the early years, PFCU offered only one savings account and one loan product. They have since grown into a full-service credit union providing every type of financial service our members require.

Growing from four employees in 1978 to more than 180 staff members. Assets have grown from $3.5 million to more than $750 million, and membership has increased from 3,000 to more than 53,000 in that time.

A merger with SageLink Credit Union in July of 2018 allowed for PFCU to expand not only in size and employee base but also brought about a change in credit union charter. Now, as a state chartered credit union, PFCU can service any member that lives, works, and worships or attends school in the State of Michigan. PFCU has 12 locations across mid-Michigan, reaching as far East as Flint and as far West as Caledonia.

“PFCU is proud to have been serving the local area and surrounding communities for the last 75 years,” said PFCU President and CEO, Harvey Hoskins. “This milestone wouldn’t be possible without a dedicated staff and loyal membership throughout the years. We are thankful for their continued support and look forward to serving their needs, the needs of their families and future generations.”

PFCU will be celebrating with promotions throughout the year, visit their website at www.pfcu4me.com for more details.
