Public Invited to Retirement Celebration for Chief Chris Hurst

We received the following press release from the City of Lowell.

After serving the City of Lowell in various capacities over the past 30+ years, including the last 4½ as the Chief of Police, Chris Hurst will be retiring.

Starting his public safety career in 1983 as a Volunteer Firefighter in Hershey, MI, Chris also served with Rockford Fire and Algoma Township Fire before working for Rockford Ambulance as a Paramedic from 1986-1994. He joined the City of Lowell Police Department (and the former Lowell Rescue) in 1994 and has served the residents of the city proudly ever since. Chris worked in all these capacities while simultaneously proudly serving in the Michigan National Guard from 1983-2004.

As well-earned as his retirement is, Chief Hurst will leave a large hole and an amazing legacy behind. He will fill his free time with hunting, fishing, collecting his trains and rooting loudly and proudly for the Detroit Lions.

We will be celebrating Chris and his incredible career on the Lowell Showboat from 1pm-5pm on Friday, February 28th. Please join us in sending him off on his well deserved break and thank him for his dedication to our community.
