Scenes from Lowell: 2024 Santa Parade

The Christmas spirit came to Lowell on Saturday. Santa and Mrs. Claus met with families on the the Showboat, children busily made holiday crafts at the Chamber building, a live nativity took place at Heidi’s Farmstand, and the Night-Time Santa Parade capped it all off.

Leading the way was Police Chief Chris Hurst. He’ll be retiring in March so this was his final Lowell parade.

Next was the honor guard.

There were dignitaries of all kinds walking in this year’s parade.

They included the Kent County Youth Fair Royal Court.

Lowell used to have a daytime Santa Parade, but the switch to night-time has allowed entries to embrace the idea of being “merry and BRIGHT.”

This year’s many floats were covered from top to bottom with lights.

With enough lights, any vehicle can look festive.

The theme for this year’s parade was “Christmas with the Elves.”

Among the entries, there was something old…

…and something new.

There were horses…

…and goats…

…and dogs.

The Lowell Middle School and Lowell High School marching bands help bookend the parade.

And last — but certainly not least — was Santa and Mrs. Claus with their elves.

Merry Christmas, Lowell!
